Levolux tackles global climate change with Climatecare
As a world leader in Solar Shading, Levolux has been helping to reduce carbon emissions for more than 26 years. Its range of energy efficient solar shading solutions can significantly reduce a building's energy consumption as there is less need for mechanical cooling and air conditioning. Going a step further to tackle climate change, Levolux has teamed up with ClimateCare to offset the greenhouse gas emissions generated by its business activities during 2009.
Since 2007, Levolux has been committed to reducing its carbon footprint by calculating the CO2 emissions generated by its business activities. This takes account of the primary causes of emissions, notably the energy use in its buildings and travel emissions, in accordance with the World Resources Institute Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
By offsetting its primary carbon emissions, Levolux can claim to be a "climate neutral" company. With the help of ClimateCare, it is taking responsibility for its impact on climate change by contributing to projects in the developing world that not only make real reductions in carbon emissions, but also make a difference to people's lives.
One such project that strikes a chord with Levolux is the "Orb Solar" project in India. This project runs across several Indian states, reducing emissions through the use of solar hot water and solar electric installations. The project also helps to develop skills in the community, creating new jobs and supporting small locally-owned businesses.
