Parkview
Parklife!
The glazing is clear and uninterrupted while to the south, a visual and psychological shield from the motorway is created with giant external louvres.
Sounds idyllic?
The scene is the new striking Parkview building on the edge of Gunnersbury Park, London. These louvres provide sunshading and an acoustic screen but, most importantly, create a stunning aesthetic statement that unites the façade and forms a focus for the development.
Levolux - From Concept to Realisation
Levolux was brought in at the conceptual stages of the Parkview project, to aid in the design of the bespoke system. Horizontal 500mm Levolux fins, spaced 1m apart, were employed and run across the face of the building, which is some 22m high and 50m long. The company also provided all of the steel support structure and the fixings onto the concrete frame and worked to co-ordinate the installation with the cladding contractor.
a feeling of depth and drama
Depending on their position on the facade the fins stand from 1m to 5.5m off the face of the building with polished stainless steel drop rods passing vertically through them, giving a feeling of depth and drama. At night this look is enhanced by light from uplighters bouncing off the underside of the louvres, which are powder coated, silver metallic. The steel supporting structure was galvanised prior to the same finish being applied.
"Delighted with the result"
Tom Leader, construction director, Green Property, comments: “As with our previous projects, Levolux has been very good and we are delighted with the result; they’ve performed both in terms of the installation quality and timing.”
Alastair Roberts, ESA managing director, comments: “Levolux comes to the table with a positive attitude and they are proactive during design and development and are keen to create a high quality installation.”
