Plantation Place
Largest London Office Development benefits from state of the art blind technology
One of the largest office developments to be built in the City of London, Plantation Place, is benefiting from the latest roller blind technology from Levolux, the UK’s market leader in solar shading solutions.
The £75 million scheme, designed by architects Arup Associates and constructed on the remains of the old Roman colony of Londinium, offers a stunning setting for the new state of the art city headquarters for a number of the world’s leading financial institutions.
Levolux was tasked by interior design consultants Bennett Interior Design (BID) to install its reliable, aesthetically pleasing and extremely functional Levolux 700 series of internal roller blinds on 3 floors of this prestigious new building.
eliminate glare, reduce solar heat gain and control light
This range of blinds is designed to help eliminate glare, reduce solar heat gain and control light from entering offices and atria, and assist in creating suitable lighting conditions conducive to giving presentations in the boardrooms and meeting rooms.
meeting rooms and boardrooms
Within the meeting rooms and boardrooms, the company’s versatile Levolux 780 motorised roller blinds were installed. BID specified that these blinds should link into the Audio Visual (AV) control system for each room, whereby at the touch of a button, the blinds would close and the lights would dim once a presentation has finished, the blinds and lights can be reset through operating the control mechanism again.
The Levolux 780 electric roller blind can be raised and lowered to any position by an electric mechanism. It can also be operated via a gear mechanism. The blinds installed in the boardrooms and meetings rooms were a mixture of 2m and 3m drops and manufactured from ‘dim-out’ grey silk opaque fabric.
perimeter and atria windows
For the perimeter and atria windows of the 3 floors, Levolux has installed its superior range of chain operated roller blinds, the Levolux 760SX. A selection of 2 metre and 3 metre drop blinds were specified and manufactured in a grey opaque PVC coated fabric.
The Levolux 760SX range is a robust, heavy duty, friction roller system operated by ‘qualified’, continuous, stainless steel bead chain to ensure that even the largest blinds operate smoothly and without juddering with ball stops at the top and bottom.
A wide range of aesthetically pleasing, flame retardant fabric types are available across the range, including fibreglass, trevira, opaque, cotton and polyester to control light and glare. The fabrics are attached to the roller barrel by a patented method to allow easy removal and replacement of fabrics without removing the roller from its operating position.
Like all systems from Levolux, the internal roller blinds are backed with the company’s design, manufacture and installation package and can be produced in a variety of materials and finishes to co-ordinate with the overall architectural design of any building.
