Vodafone Campus Put in the Shade by Levolux

Levolux has completed a extensive project to create a comfortable working environment for the 3,200 employees at Vodafone’s new headquarters by providing a comprehensive package of internal blinds, external awnings and solar shading for the control of light, glare and solar heat gain within the new buildings.

For the new purpose-built campus, which is now home to many of the staff relocated from 50 different offices in the Newbury area, Vodafone wanted to create an attractive working environment with low energy costs and natural ventilation. Levolux provided the expertise to help them create this perfect working environment.

A Clean, Modern Appearance

Fletcher Priest Architects designed the buildings to achieve a clean, modern appearance while optimising the use of natural light and openable windows. To counteract glare and solar heat gain within the buildings, Levolux worked with Fletcher Priest Architects and main contractor Bovis Lend Lease to design, manufacture and installed a range of internal blinds and innovative external solar shading and awnings.

World leaders in the design, manufacture and installation of shading solutions, Levolux provided their 760L internal roller blind system with a fibreglass, open weave based fabric. The system, designed for offices and commercial environments, can be raised and lowered to any position by a smooth action continuous beadchain mechanism.

Externally, Vodafone specified a mixture of Levolux’s external solar shading solutions– 400mm wide extruded aluminium aerofoil fins at roof level and over plant rooms, 300mm wide western red cedar timber louvres across the strip windows and 400mm wide glass louvres over the southern ends of all the buildings.

Optimum Comfort

To complete the project, Levolux installed four large folding arm awnings outside the restaurant areas to ensure optimum comfort for diners.

Virtually Maintenance Free

Each of the systems provided by Levolux is virtually maintenance free and is backed with the company’s design, manufacture and installation package. A comprehensive range of styles and finishes are available to suit virtually every environment.
