Tensioned Fabric Systems
Providing high performance sunscreening to sloping, horizontal and irregularly shaped glazing where normal blind systems would be impractical, Levolux tensioned fabric blinds are suitable for internal and external applications. The fabric is under tension so that it stays crisp and taut and also allows for automatic operation, total retraction, discreet mounting and easy glazing maintenance.
Levolux tensioned fabric blinds may be operated at any angle and the fabric, electric motor and tension mechanism is combined on a single roller to provide a compact and cost effective unit. Discreet stainless steel draw cables, stored on slim drums at each end of the roller, drive the blinds into the shading position while a tension mechanism ensures the fabric is taut. When retracted they allow maximum daylight to enter.
Directional fabric rollers enable a roof profile to be followed and the blinds can be designed to accommodate equilateral, tapered or triangular shaped areas and will enhance original architectural concepts such as atria. To allow the designer to achieve the optimum in aesthetic treatments, fabrics are available in a wide range of colours and weaves and, where necessary, can offer blackout capability or outward vision while still reducing glare and solar heat gain.
Features and Benefits of Levolux Tensioned Fabric Systems
- Aesthetically pleasing - Screen fabrics are available in a wide choice of colours that retain outward vision. Blackout fabrics are also available. The compact, single roller allows discreet mounting in the most convenient position.
- Automatic control - Allows full advantage to be taken of the blinds to keep heat out during the day - or in, at night.
- Solar heat gain reduction - When fitted externally the blinds can reduce solar heat gain by up to 90%.
- Suitable for any angle or shape - The system can be operated at any angle - horizontal, sloping or vertically upwards - and can be designed for many shapes - equilateral, tapered or triangular. Providing designers with great scope.
- Optimum daylight usage - The system is fully retractable, opening up to give maximum daylight - or closing to give maximum shading when in position.
- Enhances atrium structure - Tension mechanism gives a taut sharp appearance.
The Range of Levolux Tensioned Fabric Systems
Levolux 880 U - Unguided Levolux 880 G - Guided Levolux 880 X - External Levolux 880 D - Double Roller
The Levolux 880 U , 880 G and 880 X systems use a single roller that holds the fabric, electric motor and the tension mechanism. The motor drives the blind into the shading position using discreet stainless steel draw cables. The cables travel around small return pulleys at the far end of the blind, through the leading edge hembar and are stored on slim cable drums at each end of the drive roller.
The Levolux 880 G has aluminium side guides that incorporate the return pulleys.
The Levolux 880 X has an extruded aluminium two part “hood” that encloses the roller, motor and tension mechanism making it suitable for external applications.
The Levolux 880 D comprises an aluminium H-frame containing two rollers which are coupled together. One roller carries a fabric and the other roller has two cable drums to take up a wire which runs through the hem-bar on the end of the fabric.
The fabric roller contains an electric motor to drive the blind and the cable-drum roller contains a spring-tension compensation cassette to maintain a constant tension in the fabric. The two rollers are coupled together at one end by a chain drive so that both rollers are effectively powered.
The tension wire is attached to one cable drum, fed to the return pulley located at the extremity of the blind, back to the hem-bar, through the hem-bar back via a second return pulley to the second cable drum.
System Construction
All components are subject to rigid quality standards and are designed to produce a high performance product with an aesthetically pleasing finish. The main components of the Levolux Tensioned Fabric System are: roller assemblies, guides and the fabric cover.
The roller assemblies contain the motor, tension mechanism and cable drums. The guides, hem bars, hoods and brackets are all made of aluminium extrusions or castings. The fabric covers can be made from a wide range of suitable fabrics for sunscreening or room darkening (with the addition of side baffles and brushes if required).
The 880 is operated by electric motor using a switch, single or in groups, or controlled from sunlight levels, a time programme or internal temperatures. Automatic control allows full advantage to be taken of the blinds to keep heat out during the day - or in, at night.
