Room with a view!

Helping to extend the envelope of the building outwards, a vertical brise-soleil was employed at Rivermead, a new building on the Oxford Road in Uxbridge.

To create the brise-soleil Levolux Matrix XL ‘Z’ shaped louvres, each measuring 2.5m long, were fitted within 6m wide x 1500mm high galvanised steel frames supported on 193mm diameter steel columns.

Providing solar shading to both the ground and first floor windows, the entire assembly is polyester powder coated and stands 1500mm from the face of the building on the southern and eastern elevations.

Essential: Outward Visibility Over The River Colne

An essential requirement of the system was that it should allow outward visibility since the building’s occupants have a view across the River Colne.

Levolux was also responsible for supplying 150mm wide fins to form the canopy which enhances both the building’s entrance area and the formal landscaped gardens. In addition it provided 950/900 contour architectural louvres to screen the rooftop plant room.
