HITTING THE RIGHT NOTES IN KIDDERMINSTER March 2008

One of the most environmentally friendly products in Levolux’s extensive range has been selected to keep shoppers and staff cool and comfortable at a major regeneration development.
Architects Garnett Netherwood specified the Levolux custom-made Timber Brise Soleil solution to provide ultra-effective protection from solar heat gain at the Piano Buildings, Kidderminster. With its stunning wood finish, the solar shading device will blend naturally with the exterior of the modern development.
The multi-million pound project has seen the historic site, a former carpet mill built in the mid-19th century, renovated and extended to become a 6,000 sq ft shopping centre and cinema complex. It is part of a dramatic regeneration of the Weavers Wharf area of Kidderminster.
Offering high performance and a striking finish, Kiln Dried French Oak Timber Brise Soleil was the perfect solution for this modernisation scheme. The Louvres span 3.2m, and are 250mm wide for optimum solar shading while still allowing natural light to enter the building. It also ensures sustainability and outside views are uncompromised.
Fitted using the company’s innovative steel supporting structure, the Piano Buildings’ smooth Louvres require minimal annual maintenance and will weather naturally to a silvery finish.
As with all its wooden fins, the raw timber for this project was carefully selected by Levolux and only came from managed sources.
Like every Levolux system, the Timber Fins are backed with the company’s design, manufacture and installation package.
