LEVOLUX SHOWS EXPERIENCE IN SHEFFIELD July 2008
Levolux was specified by architects, Race Cottam Associates, to fit its custom Solar Shading solutions to the new, £1.5 million Post Experience Development (PED) facilities at Sheffield Hallam University.
Set within the Collegiate Crescent conservation area of the city, the purpose-built resource centre at Sheffield Hallam University demonstrates its commitment to continuing professional development for both students and staff alike.
The building’s sympathetic design complements the local built environment, with Ashlar stone and timber cladding to its façade and a green sedum roof. To keep the environmental implications and energy costs of the building to a minimum, 27 untreated Western Red Cedar Timber Fins were installed horizontally to the front glazed entrance and stairwell area.
All Levolux timber comes from sustainable sources. Virtually maintenance free, Western Red Cedar Timber Fins can be left to weather naturally, taking on an attractive silver grey colour over time. Alternatively, treatments can be applied as required.
