10 Fenchurch Avenue

A new 15 storey office building at 10 Fenchurch Avenue in central London, is topped with one of the city’s most impressive roof gardens, known as the ‘Crystal Garden’. At the heart of the roof garden is a Levolux plant screening solution.

Working with Sir Robert McAlpine, Levolux developed a custom screening solution at 10 Fenchurch Avenue, incorporated at the centre of a crystalline-shaped Pergola structure. The solution comprises more than 200 separate aerofoil-shaped fins, all set at a pitch of 577mm.

The canopy of Aerofoil Fins, each measuring 300mm wide by 56mm thick, obscures the view of Chiller plant and equipment, particularly from above.

Levolux assembled the fins off-site, arranging them into 52 trapezoidal-shaped panels, with aluminium side-plates. The pre-assembled panels were then lifted and fixed into position within the steel-framed Pergola structure. Co-ordinating its work with other subcontractors, Levolux was able to fast-track the installation process.

The attractive, silver anodised fins at 10 Fenchurch Avenue, combine to create a horizontal screening structure measuring approximately 28 metres long by 17 metres wide.
