Buckingham Green

The remodelled 16-storey tower at Buckingham Green in Central London, provides luxury apartments equipped with high-end fixtures and fittings, including internal motorised blinds, courtesy of Levolux.

In collaboration with BAM Construction, Levolux designed, manufactured and installed intelligent, motorised roller blinds for the residential apartments. In total, Levolux provided 748 individual roller blinds, based on its popular Slimlock system.

The custom Slimlock blind solution required special bracketry to allow the blinds to be fitted within a hidden recess at ceiling level. The system was also adapted to include an extruded and black anodised hem bar. Extruded aluminium side guides were developed alongside the façade contractor so they could be incorporated into the glazing mullions for a seamless aesthetic.

As the blinds are raised or lowered, the edges of the fabric remain secure, using ‘zip’ technology, ensuring even tension and precise control of daylight levels.

To meet the needs of residents, two variants of fabric were deployed in almost equal quantities. In general living areas, roller blinds feature high quality white screening fabric with a 3% openness rating to prevent excessive glare. In contrast, roller blinds applied to all bedrooms feature white/grey fabric that delivers maximum light exclusion, for privacy and comfort.

All blinds are motorised using intelligent motors and hand-held wireless controllers. This ensures a smooth, silent operation and provides complete control of daylight and privacy at the flick of a switch.
